AD5248 provides a compact 3mm × 4.9mm packaged solution for dual, 256-position adjustment applications. The AD5248 performs the same electronic adjustment function as a 2-terminal mechanical potentiometer. This low temperature coefficient device is ideal for high accuracy and stability-variable resistance adjustments. The wiper settings are controllable through the I2C-compatible digital interface. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch. Applications include systems calibrations, electronics level settings, mechanical trimmers replacement in new designs, permanent factory printed circuit board (PCB) setting transducer adjustment of pressure, temperature, position, chemical, and optical sensors, RF amplifier biasing, gain control and offset adjustment.
- Operates from 2.7V to 5.5V power supply and consumes less than 6µA
- Fast settling time tS = 5µs typical on power-up
- Full read/write of wiper register, power-on preset to midscale
- Computer software replaces microcontroller in factory programming applications
- Low temperature coefficient of 35ppm/°C, low power: IDD = 6µA maximum
- Differential nonlinearity of ±0.1LSB /integral nonlinearity ±0.3LSB (10Kohm version)
- Bandwidth, -3dB is 40KHz (code = 0x80 (10Kohm version))
- Shutdown supply current of 0.01µA (VDD = 5.5V)
- 100Kohm end to end resistance, -40°C to +125°C temperature range, 10-lead MSOP package
- Extra package address decode pins:AD0 and AD1
