APDS-9253-001 is a digital RGB sensor in a miniature package that enables the sensor to be designed into space-sensitive applications. This device uses four individual channels of red, green, blue, and IR (RGB+IR) in a specially designed matrix arrangement. This allows the device to have optimal angular response and accurate RGB spectral response with high Lux accuracy over various light sources. The device detects light intensity under a variety of lighting conditions and through a variety of attenuation materials, including dark glass. It can be configured as an ambient light sensor (ALS) and RGB+IR sensor. Applications include cell phone touch-screen disable, detection of ambient light to control display backlighting (wearable devices: smart watch, mobile devices: cell phone, PDAs, PMP, computing devices: notebook, tablet PC, keyboard, consumer devices: LCD monitor, TV, video camera, digital still camera) automatic residential and commercial lighting management.

- I2C interface compatible, up to 400KHz (I2C fast-mode), dedicated interrupt pin
- Miniature package (1.67mm L x 1.29mm W x 0.58mm H)
